We produce blog posts, case studies, thought leadership pieces, and more for clients ranging from big names like OpenAI and Airbnb to growth-stage SaaS startups. Writers at Copytree either have direct SWE experience or have worked in highly code-adjacent roles like product management or technical PMM.

Role

Copytree seeks excellent technical writers to help clients refresh, restructure, and improve their product/API documentation.

Qualifications

Ideally, you have several years of full- or part-time experience documenting software/APIs as a technical writer at a software company. You may also be qualified as a SWE who led or contributed heavily to such docs and other educational material at your company. Samples are greatly appreciated, but we understand that your work may be internal/confidential.

Responsibilities

• Quickly learn the product/API to be documented, independently testing and running code
• Write and update docs-as-code
• Directly interface with clients to gather requirements, ask questions, share work, and iterate in response to feedback
• Recommend information architecture improvements
• Develop excellent getting started guides and other use-case oriented tutorials
• Run user interviews to understand gaps in documentation
