Copytree is a technical content agency. We’re writers who think like engineers, delivering clear, credible content for the people who build and buy technology. Our clients range from big names like OpenAI and Grammarly to growth-stage SaaS startups.
Role
Copytree seeks strong, engaging writers with a hands-on technical background to develop, edit, and occasionally strategize content for clients in domains including AI, devtools, data, security, and cloud. It starts as a part-time contract role, but could evolve into something more.
(We're also looking for technical writers with documentation experience, for which we have specific requirements.)
Qualifications
You don’t need to have had the word “writer” in your title before. If you’re a tech person who really likes to write and has been told your writing is great, it could be a great fit.
Your experience ought to include:
- Years in a technical role such as SWE or PM (this is a firm requirement for us right now)
- A growing tech company (like, smaller than Big Tech, though it’s great if you have that too)
- Interaction with, or better yet some responsibility for, business goals
- Not strictly required, but very helpful to have written for public distribution (blog posts, webpage copy, white papers, etc.)
Who you are:
- A master at clear, engaging writing, with a passion for research and learning
- A flexible communicator who adapts to the prior knowledge, culture, and technical fluency of different audiences
- A self-starter who takes deadlines seriously and proactively communicates around issues
- A natural at thoughtful service, comfortable working directly with clients
- A lifelong learner with a low ego, eagerly embracing and learning from editing and feedback
- A strategist with strong opinions loosely held: you can bring a clear POV when clients seek our expertise, but you can also adapt to someone else’s established systems
